Can you remember the first time you received an email with an offer of pills from a virtual pharmacist, an outlandish financial proposition from a Nigerian prince or a buy recommendation for some penny stocks? Like the vast majority, you saw it for the nefarious email that it was and simply deleted it. I started receiving my first spam in the mid ’90s, and at first it was just a trickle. However, by the start of the new millennium that trickle had turned into a steady stream, and I started investigating ways to block this river of spam from reaching my inbox.
