New “MiniFlame” malware targets individuals for attack

A new form of state-sponsored malware is making the rounds, this one apparently designed specifically to spy on its victims.

Dubbed “MiniFlame” by Kapersky Lab, but also known as SPE, the new malware variant is similar to the Flame virus that targeted computers in the Middle East this past summer. But MiniFlame is a cyber espionage program that can take over where Flame leaves off.

Microsoft calls you at home to repair a computer virus: It’s a scam

There’s no way Microsoft or anyone else would know if you have a virus unless they’re the Hacker that put the virus on your comptuer!

If someone calls you at home, claiming to be Microsoft engineers wanting to get rid of a virus on your computer, it’s no doubt a scam. That’s the word the local Better Business Bureau put out today, warning residents in the Columbus and Phenix City

Be careful out there. The chief causes of viruses and other Malware, imo, are clicking on links in questionable websites, or emails and not having a good up-to-date Free Anti-Virus on your computer. I like Microsft Security Essentials. I love the tag line. “The anti-annoying, anti-expensive, anti-virus program”

Malware here, there and everywhere!

I’ve been running into a lot of computers with varying degrees of Malware (term for anything malicious such as viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware, adware, most rootkits, and other malicious programs). It manifests in all kinds of ways from bogus disk drive definitions, hidden program groups and files, printers not working to general crashing.
I strongly suggest that you all install Malwarebytes and run it. Here’s a link to the Free version. Just make sure you don’t select the Trial or Pay version. http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol;1
Also, if you want a great free Anti-Virus. Avira, avast! and Microsoft Security Essentials are pretty darn good.
Happy & Safe computing!

Android malware spreads via Facebook app | ZDNet

I hate to say it, because I like the community of open computing, but the “closed” nature (proprietary iOS operating system) of Apple’s iPhones and iPads makes them more secure than Androids.

Facebook app used to circumvent Google’s ‘Bouncer’ Android Market scanner.

Mobile malware on the march, and Android is target No. 1

Smart Phones and Tablets are in the gun sites of malware authors. Android’s Openness, while very cool for flexibility, is it’s security weakness making it top on the malware hit list. iPhones and iPads are the safest due to Apple’s closed iOS. However, if you Jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch you are more open to malware than the Android. Read this article for more info on that …

At the same time, the target platforms of this malware shifted dramatically away from Java ME devices in favor of the dominant Android operating system. The trends are not surprising. For years now, mobile malware has been predicted to be the next big

Smart Phones and Tablets require smart mobile computing on your part. Install security on your Android, don’t Jailbreak your Apple device and don’t connect to questionable WiFi Hot Spot. Make sure you are connecting the Coffee Shop’s or whatever business you’re at’s WiFi Hot Spot.
